Payment Services Directive Workshop

Introduction:
E-Finance & Payments Law & Policy is organising a full-day Workshop on The Payment Services Directive, taking place in London on 28 February 2008. The Workshop is being hosted by financial law specialists Sidley Austin LLP in conjunction with PSE Consulting.
The European Commission has said that the Payment Services Directive, following its publication in the EU Official Journal, must be written into national law 'as soon as possible', and by 1 November 2009 at the latest.
Commenting on this development, the Internal Market and Services Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy said "A coherent legal framework for cross-border payments is an essential part of making SEPA a reality. Now that the PSD has been published, Member States need to deliver on their commitment to implement this crucial Directive by 1 November 2009 at the latest."
In light of this, E-Finance & Payments Law & Policy, Sidley Austin LLP and PSE Consulting are combining forces to provide the banking sector with four interactive seminars on the Directive. The full day Workshop will provide expert legal analysis and practical guidance from seasoned PSD professionals. During the day there will also be three presentations from two regulators and an International Bank.
This full day Workshop will help banking professionals examine the business and compliance issues raised by the Payment Services Directive.
