The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has clarified that it will provide factual information to the European Commission to assist with its investigation into US restrictions on online gambling operators based overseas. It denied reports suggesting that talks were planned with a European Commission delegation. / read more

Poland's Ministry of Finance has clarified that from 2009, it plans to tax all land-based gambling operators 10% of the amount wagered, whether they are based in Poland or abroad, however internet gambling will remain illegal. / read more

The Dutch Ministry of Justice warned football clubs FC Zwolle and Feyenoord, after advertisements for Unibet appeared during footballer Jaap Stam's testimonial, which took place on 26 July at FC Zwolle and during the Feyenood Jubilee Tournament, 1 August and 3 August. / read more

A few days after having awarded damages to the French Tennis Federation (FFT) for bets on the French Open offered by Unibet and Expek on grounds of infringement of monopoly and ambush marketing, the Paris Tribunal de grande instance ruled against Paris Saint-Germain football club and in favour of Sportingbet, Unibet and Bwin, despite the sports club putting forward similar arguments to those of the FFT.
