Data security deadline for merchants
Online merchants will have to comply with the New Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard or risk fines of up to $500,000. The deadline for compliance with the Standard, which is designed to protect credit card information held online, is June 30 2005.
German Constitutional Court paves way for German ECJ gaming case
The German Constitutional Court, the Bundesgerichtshof (BGH) has asked the European Court of Justice to rule on the proportionality of measures taken to restrict online gambling in Germany. The Court’s 27 April judgment considered the legality of intermediary activities for a Gibraltar licensed gaming operator.
